Validation
The typical Hive workflow has been compared to commonly used building simulation tool to assess how reliable it is.
The monthly loads have been compared to a comparable EnergyPlus simulation (via the Honeybee plugin) and full SIA 380 demand calculation using this tool.
The test case is a simple box of 5m x 5m x 3m simulated for monthly loads over year in the Zurich climate. See the grasshopper file for more details. Below are the results for the three differen simulators. Green = Hive, Blue = EnergyPlus / Honeybee, Red = SIA 380 tool.

Setup:
- Hive v1.10.2
- Rhino v6
- Honeybee v0.0.63, Ladybug 0.0.66
- EnergyPlus v8.9
- SIA 380 Tool from this commit
Files (mostly from this commit):
Monthly heating loads from Hive 1.16 have been compared to Bombyx 2.0.8 and a custom ghpython script based on the SIA380/1 norm (not the same sia380 code as in the validation above!). We can see that something is off in that Bombyx version.

The solar potentials have been validated with Daysim, Energyplus, and Radiance. Further information can be found in Waibel et. al., "Efficient time-resolved 3D solar potential modelling", Solar Energy, 2017. The solar model repo can be found here.
