The Nokia Bell Labs - MIT ROS to non-ROS Project is conducted by students of Manipal Institute of Technology, Manipal mentored by professionals from Nokia Bell Labs and faculty member/s from MIT Manipal. The aim of the project is to develop and demonstrate methods of utilizing Robot Operating System (ROS) packages with non-ROS robots and simulation environments. The long-term goal of the project is to use ROS framework and packages with the physical mobile robots present in the Nokia Chennai Factory.

Current Contributions

2021 batch:

  • Unity ROS Husky: A ROS package along with a unity simulation for path planning and mapping with the Husky Mobile Robot.
  • ROS Web Server: A website based interface for controlling a mobile robot in a unity simulation.

2022 batch:

  • Unity ROS Omron LD60: ROS packages and additional resources for simulating Frontier exploration in the Nokia Chennai Factory with the Omron LD60 mobile robot.
  • Omron LD60 ROS: ROS package to Control and Simulate the Omron LD-60 AMR in Gazebo.
