I'm Autumn Rains, an alumna of UC Berkeley's Master of Information and Data Science program (MIDS). I graduated in August, 2022. This repository consists of my personal and group project work from some of my courses while enrolled in the program. If you'd like to connect professionally, please add me on LinkedIn.
In my spare time, I am an active board member and advocate with local Arkansas nonprofits focused on housing issues in the state. My passion for this topic stems from a tragedy in my personal life in February, 2021. A very dear friend of mine passed away from carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning in his apartment in Little Rock, Arkansas. His family and our friends were not aware at the time that smoke or CO detectors are not required to be installed in rental units in Arkansas. I am on a mission to work with local legislators to make updates to local and state laws to improve tenant rights as well as create Data Science and IT solutions to raise awareness of this and other related housing issues.
Last, but not least, if you've read this far: Please check your surroundings for a functioning smoke and/or CO detector. Regardless of if you own your home, currently rent, or are a digital nomad in a hotel or abroad, please be sure to spend a few extra minutes to ensure the safety of you and your loved ones. If there is a source of naturgal gas in your residence, please be aware of signs of CO poisoning.
