Summary

This report presents the latest modifications to the Bifrost Network’s Relayer client. The key highlights of the new version is the implementation of Bitcoin Relay Protocol (BRP), including minor changes.

⚠️ Please note that it is mandatory to upgrade your client and configurations if you’re operating a Relayer on Bifrost Mainnet or Testnet.

• Deprecate Polygon Mumbai chain (#120)
• Prevent gas estimation if it is already set. This is required to successfully flush stucked transactions. (#122)
• Support compatible eth_syncing response format for Arbitrum (#125)
• Update Ethereum Sepolia's Authority contract address (5600a7d)

Required Configuration Updates

⚠️ Relayer clients that are running below version v2.0.0, must update their configuration YAML file specified as below.

  • Remove evm_providers.mumbai.
  • Update authority_address to 0xff95B9861eE5d44eC0b489B0DCB73932c7C7074B for evm_providers.sepolia.
• [Mainnet / Testnet]
  • Add system.keystore_path (default: ./keys)
  • Add system.keystore_password (default: no password)
  • Add btc_provider
  • Add bitcoin_socket_address, socket_queue_address, registration_pool_address, relay_executive_address to evm_providers.bifrost
  • Add bootstrap_config.btc_block_offset (default: 3)

Bifrost Relayer v1.0.0

We proudly announce the release of a distinct version of the bifrost-relayer.rs for the Bifrost Network. This is not a mere upgrade of the existing Python version; rather, it's a fully reengineered implementation. The aim of this release is to bolster the network's decentralization and security through diverse relay implementations.

As a client-side tool, the bifrost-relayer.rs facilitates the Cross-Chain Communication Protocol (CCCP). It processes cross-chain transactions and facilitates data transfer (e.g. feeding price information) from one blockchain to another. While not entirely similar to other implementations, this new version significantly improves user convenience and robustness in handling unforeseen circumstances such as temporary failures or sudden spikes in gas costs - issues that were challenging to tackle in the existing version.
