z_testing: Static Idle ‐ Dynamic Idle

Chris L. edited this page Sep 5, 2024 · 2 revisions

If you are running static idle (preferably a higher value of >=8%), we are interested in the changes you need to make to switch to dynamic idle.

Pre requisites:

  • You are running the latest Bluejay firmware
  • You are running BF >= 4.5.0
  • You are running static idle
  • Your static idle and min/max startup power are configured properly according to the setup guide

What we need you to do

  1. Note your Motor size & KV
  2. Note your ESC Deadtime, min and max startup power (via https://esc-configurator.com)
  3. Note your current static idle value via BF configurator
  4. Follow the BF guide to setup the dynamic idle value
  5. See if your motor spin up reliably when arming, if not (this might be the case if you had a higher static idle value than 5.5) increase dyn_idle_start_increase via CLI:
set dyn_idle_start_increase = 55
save

Check if motors spin up reliably when arming, if not increase in steps of 5 and repeat.

You can add your results in the following table by editing the Wiki or simply post them in our testing channel.
