Important Notes

  • By default, the Linode VM has a 512 MB disk allocated as swap. Delete it beforehand or use --disk /dev/sda to select the main disk.
  • Please use the Cloud Manager control panel for rebooting instead of running shutdown -r or reboot command inside the OS

Steps

  1. Start with a supported original OS: Debian > 8, Ubuntu > 14.04, CentOS > 7
  2. Run the script with --hold option (to prevent auto reboot after installation)
  3. Change the Kernel to GRUB 2 in Configurations > My...Disk Profile
  4. Reboot on the control panel
  5. Monitor the installation status with Glish. When finished, change the Kernel again to Direct Disk in Configurations > My...Disk Profile, then reboot
