LED lit

I tried various ways to make this LED light up by using the aluminum foil. I tested it out using the battery snap and connecting it to the breadboard, and then the jumper wires were put in column e of the breadboard along with the LED light, and the I used other jumper wires in row 19 of the shorter side and it was carefully put in areas close to or on the row of the LED light. And the resistor was connected to the positive of the breadboard and put in row 8. I used the plastic to see what would happen and obviously it stopped lighting up - (the jumper wire). It was a lot of testing and failures. I'm surprised it worked out.
