It should still be "is" and not "are"

It should still be "is" and not "are"

"Tallhosts" is a count noun, the linking verb refers to the subject of the sentence (tallhosts), not the modifier noun (clawful)

Clawful = One claw full
There is one claw full of tallhosts

Clawful = One claw full There is one claw full of tallhosts

Clawful is not a literal like that. There is not actually one singular claw containing many tallhosts. Clawful is a modifier noun, the subject is a plural (tallhosts) and thus are is the proper word.

The "is" or "are" are verbs linking the subject "clawful" with the adjective "left". "Of tallhosts" is a prepositional phrase that modifies "clawful", but does not turn it plural gramatically.

See rule 19. in the following link: https://www.troy.edu/_assets/center-student-success/_documents/learning-center/grammar-mechanics/subject-verb-agreement.pdf

"There" modifies the phrase(I dont remember the actual term) that lets you move the linking verb infront of it, but doesn't make it the actual subject. "Only" is an adverb and can be ignored.

This is simply solved by the issue that we are removing "stupid caveman language" so we dont need "clawful" because handful is an OOC saying anyway, i purged most of cavemen speak from xenos because its just aboslouettly unecessarily stupid and we dont need it
