The project has been part of the containerbuildsystem organization since the beginning as a continuation of the original 'cachito' project. The connection to the current organization hints at some relations to both the original use case for 'cachito' as well a particular CI deployment behind a particular vendor's doors.
Cachi2 as a secure build dependency prefetching tool (and generating SBOMs) has a potential to be adopted beyond the original intentions of the containerbuildsystem project and so it makes sense for it to try to live independently.
This milestone is to track everything that we need to do in order to become truly independent (beyond just a public repository).
