title: Florrie's diary and favorite songs
author: Florrie
---

After seeing Cosmoopolitan's selection of the cutest diary planners, I decided to buy the most expensive one and start journaling. All these introspections and memories made me want to re-listen to some of my all-time favorite lyrics from planet Earth, revolving around friends and adventure. I made a small list of songs that are a companion to my journey.

## "A song about friendship: 'Eden' by Hooverphonic

Is there someone you used to be very close to, with whom you had a complex relationship that could not really be explained with words, then you drifted apart?

When I was 10 I met Inko.
We would spend all of our time together, we knew everything about each other.
But one day everything changed.
We completely stopped being in each other's life, with so many unresolved questions.
I keep wondering if Inko still thinks about our friendship.
When I listen to the song 'Eden' by Hooverphonic with minimal lyrics, I am reminded of all of our moments.

Did you ever think of me
As your best friend
[...]
I never tried to feel this vibration
I never tried to reach your eden

I think these lyrics are very universal and relatable, being deceptively simple but feeling so strong.
They could be about strong love or friendship.

Despite its beauty, this song makes me a bit sad because it reminds me of the day Inko disappeared with a small apology letter, which was a hard time because just after that, the Government issued an arrest warrant against me.

## With darker times will come brighter times: 'Silver Linings' by Kacey Musgraves

Kacey Musgraves is one of my favorite songwriters, especially when I need someone to cheer me up.
With 'Silver Linings', I keep reminding myself that

If you're ever gonna find a silver lining
It's gotta be a cloudy day
[...]
If you wanna find the honey
You can't be scared of bees

The kind of lyrics that give you courage after difficult times.
And bees are my best friends.

## Sit on the lawn and do nothing: 'Waltz' by Fiona Apple

Ru D. will 100% agree on that one, but the time you rest is just as important as the time you take action.
'Waltz' by Fiona Apple perfectly illustrates that:

If you don't have a date
Celebrate
Go out and sit on the lawn
And do nothing
'Cause it's just what you must do and
Nobody does it anymore

### A song with a strong message about the current times: 'Death of the law' by Utsu-P

This Japanese song 'Death of the Law' by Utsu-P is an accurate depiction of the situation in space, and the heavy production goes very well with the dark mood.
Hey, why does everybody assume I only listen to cute songs about friendship? I have a deeper side too.

Law Law Law Law Law Law
You don't know outer space's exceptions
If you keep treating "us" as invaders
You will die down the drains of unchanging times

I hope this selection will cheer you up and inspire you to give a call to your best friend, as long as the phone number is still valid.
If not, you can book a session with June at 1-808-P-JUNE-MUSIC, using her pigeon tracker to find your friend's new number.
Have a good one!
