Functionality

The backend of the Timestamp Microservice is a Node.js application using the Express framework, designed to provide timestamp conversion functionalities. The application includes routes to handle HTTP requests, process data, and return responses formatted in JSON.

Key Features:

  1. Timestamp Conversion:

    • The application can receive a Unix timestamp or a date in ISO-8601 format.
    • It converts the received timestamp into different formats:
      • Unix Timestamp: Represents the elapsed time since January 1, 1970, 00:00:00 UTC.
      • ISO-8601: Date and time in the international standardized format.
      • RFC 2822: Date and time in the format of an email message as defined in RFC 2822.
      • UTC: Date and time in UTC (Coordinated Universal Time) format.
  2. Error Handling:

    • If the provided timestamp is invalid, the API returns an error object with an explanatory message.

Practical Use Case

Imagine an event scheduling application where users need to input dates and times for their appointments. The backend of the Timestamp Microservice could be integrated to validate and format these dates according to the system's requirements.

Example Usage:

  1. Input Data:

    • A user enters a date or a timestamp into a form on the application's frontend.
  2. Request to Backend:

    • The frontend sends a request to the backend of the Timestamp Microservice with the date or timestamp provided by the user.
