opencl\_synch\_cache
: If set to "true", this parameter will force darktable to fetch image buffers from your GPU after each module and store them in its pixelpipe cache. This is a resource consuming operation, but can make sense depending on your GPU (including if the GPU is rather slow). In this case darktable might in fact save some time when module parameters have changed, as it can go back to some cached intermediate state and reprocess only part of the pixelpipe. Since darktable 4.4 the efficiacy of the pixelpipe cache has improved a lot so setting it to "active module" (the default) is good in most cases.

: If darktable wants to make use of any OpenCL device it has to reserve it for further usage. If that device is current used darktable will wait up to _opencl\_mandatory\_timeout * 5ms_ before it does a fallback to CPU. Increase this value if you would prefer to use OpenCL (because your card is really fast and your CPU is not).
