4.0 Templates
Targets-io allows you to generate metrics quickly based on templated metrics and variables. This feature can save you a lot of time compared to manually configuring each metric.
There are three ways to create a template:
- Click the "+" icon in the templates view (accessible via the menu in the top right of the app)
- Clone an existing template via the Template edit menu
- Create a template from an existing dashboard, see Dashboard menu
A template consist of one or more variables and one or more metrics containing a placeholders for the variables.
To add a variable click the "+" icon in the template view.
Provide a
- Variable name
- variable description
- variable query: query to produce a list of possible values from Graphite. Use the "target finder" (search icon) to create query.
It is also possible to use another variable in the variable query. In that case make sure that variable is defined before that one in the variable list. The variable order can be changed by clicking the "up arrow" in the table rows.
