Choose daily or monthly, choose some stations, choose some things you want to retrieve.

You get a "tidy" dataset, that is, you get the "what" and the value. If you get temperature and precipitation for a station on a day, that's two records. This is great in many ways but troubling in others.

You can make a less tidy dataset by also using Spreader from this set of plugins. But you can also cope perfectly well by hiding the data you don't want to see.
