The icon for an application stays up on the dock even after uninstalling. I had installed the Pantheon File Manager and placed it on the dock but after I uninstalled it through the App Center, the icon stayed up for about 90 seconds before going away. In that time, it was decreasing and increasing in transparency till it finally went away. Is it possible to reduce that time to a more conservative period?

System Info:

  • elementaryOS Hera 5.1
  • Dell XPS 13 9380
  • Dual-booted system

I can confirm this, and if I recall, it is by design in Plank. I think maybe in case Plank somehow loses track of a .desktop file (perhaps if it is changed during an update or something), it doesn't disappear right away. But I agree slowly fading out of 90-secs is strange. Instead, I imagine we could just have a brief timeout where nothing happens, and then remove it if the .desktop file is still gone.
