genome package reorganisation

The genome package needs some love and this ended up in a substantial refactor with numerous breaking changes.

Fixed awkward module/package setup

The main difference between v0.2.0 and v0.3.0 is that we have abandoned the awkward architecture of having multiple modules in one repo with each module having a single package. Now there is a single module at the top level with multiple packages below that.
