Research Frameworks Based on the Nielson Norman Group and Christian Rahror’s (2014) 3-dimensional framework, the following methods are utilized:

  • The Attitudinal vs. Behavioral Dimension
    • Attitudinal (What people say), Methods: Surveys, Interviews
    • Behavioral Dimension (What people do), Methods: Ethnography/Contextual Inquiry
  • The Qualitative vs. Quantitative Dimension
    • Quantitative, Methods: Surveys
    • Qualitative, Methods: Interviews, Open ended survey questions, Ethnography/Contextual Inquiry
  • The Context of Product Use
    • Both quantitative and qualitative research methods are utilized in order to triangulate the data and research findings.
  • Natural or near-natural use of the product
    • The mentors (users) are participating in the mentorship program as is which emulates the natural or near-use of the product (in this case the mentorship program/platform)
