3. Guides Overview
The guide section of the wiki hosts various guides on how to edit animations with XIV in mind.
Each guide assumes that you have read section 2, section 2.1, and section 2.2 of this wiki and assumes that you know the very basics of the relevant listed program.
Furthermore, section 2.3 should be read either before or after reading these guides for instructions on getting your animation back into XIV.
Currently, three guides have been published to the wiki.
3.1 Editing an existing animation - 3DS and Blender
This guide details how to make simple edits to an existing animations, such as moving a characters arm throughout an animations. This is useful when editing things such as idle poses.
This guide details the bone retargeting process and how port an animation, such as a dance or run cycle to an FFXIV skeleton. The example demonstrates transferring Crash Bandicoot's run animation to a Lalafell. It does not demonstrate how to source your own animations.
This guide demonstrates how to animate a mesh exported from textools. This is useful for seeing more easily how your animation will affect the character.
