What is MultiAssist?

MultiAssist if a fork of AnimAssist and FBX2Havok that aims to assist with animation modding within FFXIV. It contains a GUI and some improvements.

What does MultiAssist enable me to do?

MultiAssist provides you with a skeleton with a baked animation. You can edit this output to your liking, including porting animations from other skeletons, making edits to the original animation, or even creating a completely new animation.

Whatever you do, these animations can then be repacked into a .pap file and imported into FFXIV.

Au Ra with Crash Bandicoot's run, made with .fbx exports.

What 3D editors can I use with MultiAssist?

Any 3D editor that supports .FBX import/export is compatible with the FBX files you will end up with. (Note: As of v0.2.0 you should import/export your FBX from blender before using it in other editors. I am currently investigating this issue.)

If you opt to use .hkx exports instead, you must be using 3Ds Max 2010 - 2022 with the HavokMax plugin.

Alternatives to MultiAssist

  • BlenderAssist by 0ceal0t
    • Similar project to MultiAssist. The entire workflow is confined to blender minus file extraction/re-importing.
  • VFXEditor by 0ceal0t
    • Easy and in-game way to swap animations, edit .pap timeline data, and much more.
  • AnimAssist by Perchbird
    • All AnimAssist features are maintained in MultiAssist, but hey, doesn't mean it doesn't work.
