SPITFIRE, a fire-behavior and effects module, is adapted for use with the Functionally Assembled Terrestrial Ecosystem Simulator (FATES), a size-structured vegetation demographic model to explore how fire activity and vegetation-fire feedbacks influence ecosystem composition in the tropics for vegetation with different fire vulnerabilities.
