YouTube Content Detox

YouTube Content Detox is a browser extension designed to let users take control of their YouTube feed. By entering specific keywords, users can filter out unwanted content, creating a cleaner and distraction-free YouTube experience.

Installation

  1. Download the ZIP file of this repository by clicking the Code button, then Download ZIP.
  2. Extract the ZIP file to a folder on your computer.
  3. Open your browser's extension management page:
    • For Chrome: Navigate to chrome://extensions/
  4. Enable "Developer mode" (for Chrome).
  5. Click "Load unpacked" and select the extracted folder.

Usage

  1. Open YouTube.
  2. Click on the YouTube Content Detox extension icon in your browser toolbar.
  3. Enter the keywords you want to filter out (e.g., "spoilers", "news").
  4. Save your preferences, and the videos containing those keywords will no longer clutter your feed.
  5. Modify the list at any time for a personalized experience.

How It Works

  • The extension scans video titles and descriptions for the keywords you provide.
  • Videos matching the keywords are dynamically hidden without affecting your YouTube account or recommendations.
