The biggest addition in this PR is a heads up for the windows 10 method without the use of a VM to obtain a linux type environment to create the code.

The PR got a little bit bigger as I then went thru the page and made the page a bit smaller

For consideration, review and possible merge.

Bash on Windows provides developers with a familiar Bash shell and Linux environment in which you can run most Linux command-line tools, directly on Windows, UNMODIFIED, without needing an entire Linux virtual machine!
However, multiple headers with same content

It has to be decided if documentation for VM should be part of the guide: I can easily remove at Lancaster's discretion.
The inclusion of VM's was for a form of completeness that may not be necessary.

I think the inclusion of VMs is fine, but it muddies the installation instructions for those who just want a straightforward-ish process. Perhaps it would be better if it were brought out as a separate section, rather than intermingled with other platforms?

Let us just remove the VM?
The doc I suggest is to remove the repetitions of each step that are per OS: when I first glanced at the procedure, all I saw was a very long doc and I "ran away" ( I returned latter and found that it as "easy").
The doc I present is to show each step in getting hex to micro-bit, with as little repetition as possible.

Edit:

Note: I do not explain how to install the VM or choice of VM as this is out of scope as it is probably hard to maintain
