Proposal

In landlocked Lexington, Kentucky much of the city’s relationship to water is associated with its role in crafting bourbon. Yet Lexington’s history includes great efforts to control, hide, and eliminate water from the landscape. On the backs of renewed local efforts to daylight the Town Branch stream running through the city’s center, we propose a map which drawing on historical maps and records of the area, resurfaces the city’s water resources which have long been erased from the landscape.

What needs to be done

  • Georeference old maps!
  • Look for missing water!
  • Map the missing water!
  • Make a map!
