Installing Rainmeter & Widgets

  • Download and install the latest stable release of Rainmeter. The Install Wizard defaults should be suitable for most people. Specifically, make sure the Launch Rainmeter on Startup and Run Rainmeter options are selected.
  • After the install wizard is complete, Rainmeter will be running in your system tray, and some demo widgets (gauges) should be showing on your desktop.

Rainmeter_in_system_tray

  • Right-click on the Rainmeter icon in your system tray and select Manage
  • If you want to remove the demo widgets, expand the illustro folder tree until you see the various .ini files. Click on each one and click Unload.

Install MVis Widgets

  • In the Mining Visualizer download package you will find a folder tree with the following structure: Rainmeter\Skins\MVis. Copy the MVis folder and all its contents to %USERPROFILE%\Documents\Rainmeter\Skins.
  • In Rainmeter, click the Refresh All button, and you should see the MVis gauges.

  • Expand each of the four folders in turn, click on the .ini file and then click the Load button.
  • You should now see the widgets on your desktop. You can position them using click and drag.
  • If MVis is running, the data may not immediately synchronize. Select the Refresh Gauge command in MVis to display up-to-date data.
  • For general information on the information presented in the widgets, please visit the Desktop Widets page.

Customize

Rainmeter widgets are defined by .INI text files which you can edit if you wish. Some easy customization's can be found in Rainmeter\Skins\MVis\@Resources\Common.inc. You can change fonts, sizes, alert colors, etc. The @Resources folder also contains some alternate backgrounds that you can use, or you can create your own. See the Rainmeter documentation for details.

Every time you make a change, you need to use the Rainmeter command Refresh All (or just refresh the specific gauge) in order to see your changes. You may also need to select the Mining Visualizer command Refresh Gauge.
