Hello everyone,

it’s been a while. 🙂 Thank you all for the tremendous support over the years; it’s been a ride so far!

I’m planning on releasing v2 of carbon-now-cli this year. 🥳 Among other things, it’ll include:

• Complete rewrite
• JS ➝ TS
• Pure ESM Package
• XO ➝ Prettier
• Ava ➝ Jest
• Puppeteer ➝ Playwright
• Travis ➝ GitHub Actions
• Carbon website ➝ Carbon API
  • There is no official Carbon API as of May, 2023
• Heavily improve UX
  • Overhaul existing flags/API
  • Add --engine flag
  • Add --skip-display flag
  • ~/carbon-now.json preset setting keys to match Carbon’s, e. g.
    • wt ➝ windowTheme
    • ds ➝ dropShadow
    • ph ➝ paddingHorizontal
    • etc.
• Update dependencies
  • dependencies needs to be updated  #66
• Automate dependency updating process
• Feature request: Include original line numbers

As I’m finalizing the huge v2 release, I’ve decided to run a small beta of it. 🙂

To install the v2 beta run

npm i carbon-now-cli@beta -g

Docs 🚀 for v2 can be found here. 🙂 There are tons of new features and breaking changes, so make sure to re-read the docs if you’ve read them previously.

v2 will officially drop any day now. 🥳

P. S: I’m almost embarrassed about how long it took me to start working on v2, but at least once I did, I shipped it quite fast. 🙃 No more activity slumps in the future, though. 🤞
