Yeah, that's great! So what is missing then for the user to do? Should we describe this in the README of the generated projects?

Yes. There are a few properties such as the repository url and nexus url that may be configured.
Also the expectations for a sonatype username/passwords, a public GPG key hosted at specific key servers, a $git release token for JReleaser, changelog configuration for JReleaser.
