Data Modeling with Microsoft Excel

Problem Statement: Finex Ventures is a fast-growing hardware company that sells various products to customers in various Cities in different regions. To support its growth and make data-driven decisions, Finex Ventures needs a data analytics team.

💡 Objective: Create an interactive dashboard to seek meaningful insights from various company data to enable better informed decision-making, resource optimization, and enhanced market competitiveness for Finex Ventures.

Learnings:

  1. Data Extraction and Cleaning:
  • Extracted data from a CSV file.
  • Employed Power Query for data cleansing, removing anomalies.
  • Chose "Create Connection" for future edit flexibility.
  1. Relationship Establishment in Power Pivot:
  • Visualized the data model in Power Pivot's diagram view.
  • Established relationships between the Fact and dimension tables.
  1. Date Table Integration with sales year Specification between 2015 and 2020:
  • Integrated a Date table using Power Query.
  • Specified sales year instead of customers' birthdates
  1. Conditional Formatting for Attention-Grabbing Insights:
  • Applied conditional formatting to highlight key numerical insights.
  • Defined rules for highlighting cells that required attention.
  • Established connections with other tables in the Data Model.

Technical & Soft Skills:

  • Proficiency in ETL methodology (Extract, Transform, Load).
  • Skills to generate a date table using Power Query.
  • Establishing data model relationships with Power Pivot.
  • Proficiency in incorporating supplementary data into an existing data model.
  • Utilizing DAX to create calculated columns.
