This PR does a couple of things:

Adds some upcoming events to the relevant sections of the website (homepage and events page)
Updates the language to be more representative of our inclusivity as per Make main description more inclusive #57
Adds some more effective README instructions for anyone wanting to contribute as per Write contributor guidelines #56
