This Wiki Has Moved and this page is probably out of date. You can find the new wiki page here: Updated FAQs-for-Prospective-Beiwe-Users

Beiwe can collect log data for phone calls and text messages on Android but not for iOS, why is this and do any other iOS sensors provide insight into communication?

Currently, Apple privacy does not allow 3rd party applications to access call and text log data. However, proximity sensor data provides insight into whether a user's phone is near the user (i.e. on the phone).

Beiwe is also available as an open source platform, can you give me a general sense of what is required of researchers who plan to use the open source version?

The open source version of the Beiwe platform is freely available and provided as-is. At this point, the Onnela Lab does not provide any ongoing technical support for it. If you’re interested in using the Beiwe platform and need support there are two options:

  1. Deploy the open source version of Beiwe yourself, to learn more visit this wiki.
  2. Contact our developers, Zagaran, directly, but please be advised that they will charge for their service.
