Merge branch 'issue-88' into issue-186

- This is a very rough merge.
- There are redundanciesin the way
  neuropixels configuraiton interacts with the GUI elements that needs
  to be resolved.
- Further, I'm pretty uneasy with the amount of logic in the GUI code
  that has to do with selecting valid channels, if I understand things
  correctly. This should be handled by the base package with the GUI
  reflecting the configuration state
