Backup file format (legacy)

Note: This was the backup file format in PfP 2.x. Starting with PfP 3.0, these backup files can still be imported but are no longer being created.

Backup files are JSON files. They contain the following keys:

application string Should always be pfp
format number Should 3, the value 2 is also supported (for compatibility with PfP versions before 2.2).
data object A subset of the storage keys: salt, hmac-secret and any keys prefixed site:

The difference between format 3 and 2 is that the latter could contain legacy passwords of type generated. The legacy backup format 1 was unencrypted and is no longer supported as of PfP 2.2.
