1. Which record does this change impact?

Find the organization referenced in the request by:

Search on English and non-English names if needed.

Once the organization has been identified, proceed to the next step.

2. What is the request?

Review the information in the Github issue and identify what changes are being requested by comparing the request to the information in the existing ROR record.

Once the request is identified, proceed to the next step.

3. Are there other changes that might need to be made?

There may be other metadata that needs to be modified that the requestor has not specified.

For example: changing the organization name might also require updating the organization acronym, or non-English version of the name.

Or: the requestor has only requested an update to the URL, but you notice that the organization name is out of date.

Once all possible changes have been identified, proceed to the next step.

4. Are there other records that might be impacted by the change(s)?

Depending on what is being requested, there may be other records impacted even if the requestor has not specified so. For example: changes to an organization name, organization URL, organization type, or organization location could also affect related records.

If other records are affected, file a new issue with the details of the changes to be made.

5. What will the metadata be after completing the change(s)?

Following the ROR guidance on metadata, determine how to implement the requested changes.

For example: follow the ROR guidance on organization names.

Enter your metadata recommendations in the body of the Github issue or as a comment on the issue.
