This Kapok software release adds support for canopy height estimation from multi-baseline UAVSAR datasets. This is performed using baseline selection procedures based on a number of simple PolInSAR data quality metrics. After baseline selection, the random volume over ground (RVoG) model is inverted using the selected baseline for each pixel. A number of different baseline selection criteria have been implemented (which can be selected by the user).

This software version also adds support for importing .kz files distributed with UAVSAR stacks. It also changes how the .kz files are stored in the Kapok HDF5 files. If you load an old Kapok HDF5 file version, you will be prompted to convert to the new format. You may want to make a backup copy of your Kapok HDF5 file before doing so, just to be safe.

This software version was used to generate AfriSAR canopy height products for study areas in Pongara and Lope National Parks, in Gabon. A couple of example processing scripts have been added to the scripts/ folder which can create the Kapok-generated canopy height and supplementary products for both these areas. To run them, you must download the Pongara and Lope UAVSAR SLC stacks, which are available at the UAVSAR website: https://uavsar.jpl.nasa.gov/. To find these data, ensure that the "TomoSAR" mode is selected in the UAVSAR data search. UAVSAR data for two other study areas in Gabon are also available. We acknowledge the tremendous efforts of the UAVSAR processing team in making these data publicly available.
