Multi Artist Releases

There are several types of multi-artist releases recognized by Roadie which have special handling:

• Compilation Albums

  • Sound Tracks
    • These are releases which contain music for a motion picture. These releases can have tracks which each have a different artists. On these type of releases Roadie will find (or create) artists for each track.
    • In order for Roadie to recognize this type of release ensure that:
      • Artist is set to "Sound Tracks"
  • Various Artists
    • These are collections of tracks grouped together for a release which are not on their original release and have various artists. On these type of releases Roadie will find (or create) artist for each track. Any track that contains "Ft/Feat/Featuring" will have these values removed and the remaining value be used for the Artist.
      • An example would be "The Hershey Ways ft. Creamy Caramel" the artist value be set to "The Hershey Ways"
    • In order for Roadie to recognize this type of release ensure that:
      • Artist is set to "Various Artists"
  • 'Greatest Hits'
    • Greatest Hits albums are associated with the Artist for the tracks, this is a single artist - if the release has multiple artists it likely not a "Greatest Hits" but likely a "Various Artists" type release.

• Cast Recordings

  • These are any recording of musicals, plays, specials, etc. Generally contain multiple artists and combinations of artists including "Ensemble". On these type of releases Roadie will attempt to find artists for each track - but because of the unusual combinations usually present will not create. A "track sub title" will be added with the value of "Artist".
  • In order for Roadie to recognize this type of release ensure that:
    • Artist is set to "Original Broadway Cast"
