bupaR is an open-source, integrated suite of R-packages for the handling and analysis of business process data. It currently consists of 16 packages, including the central package, supporting different stages of a process mining workflow. bupaR provides support for different stages in process analysis, such as importing event data, calculating descriptives, process monitoring and process visualization. The central package, bupaR includes basic functionality for creating event log objects in R. It contains several functions to get information about an event log and also provides specific event log versions of generic R functions.
Over the past few year, bupaR has seen a considerable increase in functionalities and users. It has been one of the first successful tools for script-based process analytics, and can currently be seen as the state-of-the-art tool for process analysis in R and an important player in the open-source process mining tool landscape. With a user-base consisting largely of professional process analysts, the ecosystem has helped to increase the adoption of process mining in a broad range of fields.
bupaR is currently maintained by researchers on a voluntary basis. Supporting this team through the GitHub Sponsorship program will help to make sure that the framework is maintained and improved upon in a sustainable manner in the long run. Funds will be used fully to create learning materials and to support developers in adding new functionalities.
