Project Description

SynergyGifting is a Django-based platform designed to facilitate gifting for friends and family who are celebrating milestones. The platform allows users to create accounts, create wishlists with items from various e-commerce sites, and share these wishlists with family and friends. Givers can then visit the wishlist, place orders by sending money to the platform, and the platform handles purchasing and delivering the items.

Installation

1. Clone the repository

git clone https://github.com/yourusername/SynergyGifting.git
cd SynergyGifting

2. Set up a virtual environment

It's recommended to use a virtual environment to manage dependencies. You can set up a virtual environment using venv or virtualenv.

Using venv (Python 3.6+):

python -m venv venv
source venv/bin/activate  # On Windows use `venv\Scripts\activate`

Using virtualenv:

virtualenv venv
source venv/bin/activate  # On Windows use `venv\Scripts\activate`

3. Install dependencies

pip install -r requirements.txt

4. Set up the database

Apply the migrations to set up the database:

python manage.py makemigrations
python manage.py migrate

5. Create a superuser

Create a superuser to access the Django admin interface:

python manage.py createsuperuser

6. Run the development server

Start the Django development server:

python manage.py runserver

You can now access the application at http://127.0.0.1:8000/.
