Mailto Links

Description

Jethro uses the mailto: network protocol for all email links. Basically when you click an email or contact link in Jethro the URL behind is something like mailto:[email protected]. And in the case of says rosters there may be several emails. Click the link and the associated mail program should open displaying the link email(s).

Problem

When the association between mailto: network protocol is not assigned correctly, then email links can open the wrong mail program or do nothing.

Fix For Windows

1. Open 'Control Panel > Default Programs' and click 'Associate a file type..'
   
2. Scroll down the list and edit the MAILTO item.
3. Select the mail program you want associated with MAILTO.

Fix For Google Chrome Browser

1. Open 'Chrome Settings > Content Settings > Manage Handlers'
   or go to chrome://settings/handlers
2. For GMail make sure 'mailto' handler is set to 'mail.google.com'
