Still trying to get the editor thing working - don't need $* when setting core.editor directly, but do need it if using a shell script
Having trouble committing. I followed instructions here to use
EditPad Pro as my editor. But I keep getting the message
Aborting commit due to empty commit message.
This answer gave me the clue I needed in regards to the location of COMMIT_EDITMSG
