# The Wired

The Wired is an open protocol for the metaverse.
It is a collection of standards focused on interactive 3D environments, self-sovereign identity, and interoperability.
The Wired is more than just another platform; it's a pathway to the open metaverse.
The Wired introduces a collection of open standards, emphasizing interactive 3D environments,
self-sovereign identity, and seamless interoperability.

## 🤔 Motivation
## Motivation

The VR landscape today is comprised of closed off platforms built within the traditional "walled garden" framework of app stores and isolated experiences.
Each game has it's own friends list, avatars, file formats, and (sometimes questionable) leadership.
Mods get banned, users get banned, and everyone who lives within these spaces gets no say in the matter.
Today's VR ecosystem is fragmented by proprietary platforms that confine users and developers to isolated, controlled environments.
Each platform enforces its own set of rules and restrictions, often under leadership
that makes arbitrary decisions with no recourse for the people who live within these virtual worlds.

With VR our digital identity is more important than ever.
We embody our avatars, we walk the roads of virtual worlds, we form real human connections with other people.
This happens all across the internet - but with VR it becomes much more real.
Nobody should have absolute power over our experience - it's too important to
leave up to good faith (and even with good intentions these systems fail).
With VR our digital rights matter more than ever.
The Wired acknowledges this importance by ensuring that power isn't concentrated in the hands of a few.
Instead, it fosters a decentralized environment where everyone can contribute and shape the future of 3D content.

The Wired is an attempt to change the status quo by providing an alternative framework for building, publishing,
and experiencing 3D content in a standardized and interoperable format - or put more simply, **to bring the success of the Web to 3D**.

The open source nature of The Wired is not just a protective measure against bad actors - it
provides a whole suite of benefits not possible with current platforms.
Anyone can develop new features, try new ideas, and push the ecosystem forward.
By embracing open source principles, The Wired doesn't just safeguard against abuse;
it unleashes a wave of creativity and collaboration.
Anyone can innovate, experiment, and enhance the ecosystem, driving progress for all.
