I went ahead and added an option to toggle whether this should be enabled, but I suspect if you're using the vim keymap you will want to have this enabled so I can remove the setting and enable it for all if you'd prefer to keep the settings simple.

Can we move the conversation to that issue so the conversation here can focus on whether this is the best way to fix the issue? It's a behavior that's been seen by many users, so I'm sure we can figure out what's missing from your reproduction so you can see the bug for yourself.
