The BOOL returns are intentional, as are the uses of the un-typedefd primitive types - some of the callers perform the word-to-bool conversion on the results, and the NSMBW symbols make it appear as though sLib didn't use the typedefs that NW4R, EGG, m_ and d_ seem to use.
