Goals/Agenda

  • Check differences between Hive and main NRI website.
  • Discuss the final UI (color and formatting) of the “Hosted by ACCESS-NRI” subheading on the Hive.
  • Discuss the header buttons final UI (filled or bordered UI)?
  • Quick discussion on external feedback received till date...
  • External Hive review update (for email replies, see shortcut at top of this channel)

EXTERNAL REVIEW

CHECK DIFFERENCES BETWEEN HIVE AND ACCESS-NRI WEBSITE

  • Natalia has prepared the images for model components and configurations and would be putting them on the SharePoint.
  • The ACCESS-NRI site and the Hive will undergo under the Users tab, with three subsections namely - ACCESS-Hive, ACCESS Forum and User Support.
  • And Community and Users could be merged as they are subset of each other on the ACCESS-NRI website. And suggestions were to create a separate tab for the News and Events tab.
  • Someone interested in running a model would perhaps be under the Users tab, and the board members, for instance, are not users but are community.
  • "ACCESS Glossary" is a resource and unless the jobs are advertisements and should be visible as much as possible.
  • For the subsections, we could discuss the terminology for the three subsections - ACCESS-Hive user portal, Hive Forum and User Support and user support will link directly to the forum's user support page (and it is that high-level - "how to get help").
  • On the ACCESS-Hive user portal, we included the user support page and Natalia would be sending the user support images to the hive page.
  • The user support on the ACCESS-NRI page could go direct to the Hive page.
  • And the users tab, it will have 3 links that go the hive, forum and the user support.
  • And the models page, will change to the new figures that we discussed before (for instance with the bidirectional arrows, and circles a different sizes etc.).
  • Changes are made to the all components diagram and we need to balance the image a little bit.
  • We have to redo the images afterwards and if the image is rectangular and it is a bit harder to work with. If an image is a square is as possible, and Natalia could give two different image ideas and the team can decide upon the final one.
  • For the final all components shape, Natalia could perhaps be having a discussion with Andy and Martin for the final configuration of the image.
  • For the land - having a tilted arrow, and for the aerosols and atmospheric chemistry, we could have them as vertically.
  • Natalia could create a duplicate powerpoint, and can just give a few suggestions. And the team could have a discussion afterwards.
  • Final images need to be ready by next week perhaps, and Natalia will be checking with Martin and Andy for discussing the final images.
  • Davide suggested that "Land surface" could be a bit smaller than the main ones, just so it is not as visible as the other ones.
  • Natalia suggested different icons and the colored ones are a bit distracting. And you need to have the icon recognisable even in the smaller sizes.
  • And for the community icons, and that one we need to decide for the place to put it.
  • And for the forum, we could decide upon the final icon - top left orange conversation one.
  • And the designer could send three different colors for the forum messages.
  • For the icons, that from the hive team, the support forum there is a clear preference for the forum icons (but for the colors could be a bit different).
  • Community is the less pressure and for the forum, and we can go with option-3 (with some possible spacing suggestions from Davide).
  • We need the final icons for the forum before the end of next week.
  • Might need some suggestions for improving the hive icon and finalising it before the end of next week.
  • Try to go straight to the hive for the user support if we can, and starting from the main website.
  • Sven suggestions for the glossary will be incorporated into the main website.
  • For the model components and configurations, and we need to make sure that both the hive and ACCESS-NRI website need to be consistent.
  • And how do we wanna present the information on ACCESS-NRI website and we could keep it more general and more informational and could link to the hive at the bottom, for more information.
  • For the atmosphere team related pages, and we could look at some examples on the hive and access-nri, where we need to make some changes in the content of the websites.
  • For better linking of the hive page with the ACCESS-NRI. And they should have a link to the Hive page from the ACCESS-NRI website.
  • For Natalia, and we might need to streamline and put better linkages and that should be done below some of our other changes on the ACCESS-NRI website.
  • And training material needs to be added before the workshop and that has to happen before the end of August and for the workshop audience.
  • Literally, checking the two websites together and do that in the few days that are available.
  • This Friday, is the end of external review and the next wednesday is the call for what things need to be freezed and decide which things to go for the external feedback.
  • And next Thursday's SkillShare for the training, and for the skillshare, we could have a draft of the training material and before thursday, and Martin would be preparing a draft of the training.
  • And after that training draft, we could have that on the hive page and where that should go.
  • And after this day, nothing could be merged into the development and discussing the changes next wednesday and the following Monday 28th August and Thursday 31st for the skillshare and not related to the workshop.
  • And for the Hive, we could do the small updates and the launch for the current hive and after we launch, we can have minor updates and try to get that major update replacing the current hive on 28th.
  • And we have to freeze development next Friday, and Monday is the soft launch and the sprint meeting on Friday and Tuesday 29th the soft launch, just so we can make the training material.
  • The user support on the hive page could be updated and we will not be able to update anything.
  • Natalia would be sending the dev team the user support diagrams for working on the user support on the hive page.
  • Natalia would be sending the images to the dev team for changing the components images.

  • And hosted by ACCESS-NRI and could be turned off right now and we could drop it from the banner.

Action Items (To be added to Zenhub)

  • Soft Release - 28th August, Monday for the hive release.
  • Remove the hosted by ACCESS-NRI from the subheading and keep in the home page.
  • Buttons could be left outlined for the header buttons.
