IFC export

The IFC export tool exports a Sketchup model to IFC format.

The settings menu has a number of options that change the export.

Basic settings that determine what to export:

Both normally turned off.

  • Export hidden objects (instead of what is visible in the current view)
  • Export using model axes transformation (instead of Sketchup internal origin)

Different export use cases

Basic IFC model with the best chance of compatibility with other applications:

  • IFC version: IFC 2x3
  • Export classifications
  • Export tags/layers as IFC layers
  • Export materials
  • Export colors
  • Geometry type: Brep
  • Improve export speed by using fake GUID's
  • Export dynamic attributes
  • Export IFC Type products
  • Export IFC Type properties
  • Export IFC mapped items
  • Export textures
  • Export double sided faces
  • Add 'Classification' suffix to all classifications

  • IFC version: IFC4
  • Export classifications
  • Export tags/layers as IFC layers
  • Export materials
  • Export colors
  • Geometry type: Tesselation
  • Improve export speed by using fake GUID's
