As a MuSR scientist, I would like the 3He Refrigerator IOC to be able to send commands to set and get values on the 3He Refrigerator IOC.

Acceptance criteria:

  • The VI uses an ISOBUS (a type of serial) comms protocol. Check that this is still the plan and document the setup.
  • Create EPICS protocol and db records to implement the communications protocol. The protocol can be found in various VIs e.g. Muon HlxSetSorbFlow2.vi
  • Document the communications protocol
  • Test the communications sufficiently with the IOCTestFramework

Notes:

  • The communications protocol is based on the Heliox/ITC503 protocol but is to be implemented in its own IOC
  • The 3He refrigerator is a Heliox/ITC503 based system
  • LabVIEW VIs are at C:\LabVIEW Modules\Oxford Software\Muon Heliox and in the Muon HxSubVis subfolder.

Confirmed with cryogenics and MuSR scientists that this is purely ITC503 and doesn't use ITC502s and ITC601s as the LabVIEW suggests

Confirmed with cryogenics and MuSR scientists that the ITC503 is not on ISOBUS but is an RS232 connection going direct into a moxa.
