Markup Language

Markdown

Every file ending with .md is called a Markdown file. For a good introduction to this easy to learn and readable markup language see: Mastering Markdown.

Please note, that the GitHub Flavoured Markdown extension is not supported.

Templates

In all files with a YAML front matter, a special template syntax can be used. The template engine used is called Liquid, which has been extended by a few tags specifically handy for the JLESC website.

Liquid tags provide handy ways of including blocks of syntax highlighted code, images or citing publications.

Our extensions add the ability to use the site specific data in a uniform way throughout the website.

See the page on Markup Language for details.
