KEES is the early material science program of KSP it is inspired by the Mir Environmental Effects Payload, a set of four experiments run on Mir from 1996 to 1997 to test material for the future ISS.
KEES adds 4 new experiments to the KSP science program:
- Polished Plate Micrometeoroid and Debris (PPMD)
- Orbital Debris Collector (ODC)
- Passive Optical Sample Assemblies I (POSA I)
- Passive Optical Sample Assemblies II (POSA II)
And 2 support parts:
Installation:
You need Kerbal Attachment System (KAS) to run the the KEES experiments. For a future version try to develop a workaround for installations without KAS.
Gameplay:
You need to upgrade your Astronaut Complex to level 2, so you can perform EVAs. And research the part.
- Store a experiment and a Passive Experiment Carrier (PEC) in a Payload Carrier(PC)
- Launch your ship into a stable orbit
- Start a EVA
- Right-click on the PC and click on "Open Container"
- Take the PEC from the container
- Right-click on the PEC and click on "Attach"
- Attack the PEC on the outside of your ship
- Take the experiment from the container
- Right-click on the PEC and click on "Store" to store the experiment in the PEC
- Start the experiment on EVA or from within the ship.
- Wait for the experiment to complete
- Right-click on the experiment and click on "Finalize Results" to finish the experiment
- Start a EVA
- Right-click on the PC and click on "Open Container"
- Right-click on the experiment and click on "grab"
- Click on "Store" on the container window to store the experiment in the PC
- Repeat the last 2 steps to store the PEC in the PC
- Return to the surface of Kerbin and recover your ship to receive the science points
