Since we are using lots of data from lots of different sources we need to make sure we are compliant with the relevant licences of each.

Academic Research

We can do academic research with the data, but we cannot make it publicly available. This means that the data we make available must not contain any scopus information in it. We can however let anyone use the pipeline, so once they have their own API key they can go and get the scopus data themselves.

Showing Scopus cited-by counts on your website

Relevant points from the scopus website:

  • Scopus cited-by counts/images must link to corresponding Scopus abstract page for which counts are provided
  • The citation count image may be cached for performance reasons, but needs to refreshed at least weekly
  • The owner/operator of the application does not have to have a Scopus license

The above boils down to the requirement for a scopus API key and at least a weekly run of the pipeline. The links etc are taken care of in the pipeline.
