Setting up an unknown Local BitTorrent Client with DuckieTV

So you are using a BitTorrent client That DuckieTV is currently not aware of, (maybe a Streaming player, or a Web Torrent running on your browser, or some other torrent client that does not have an API/WEB interface) on the same computer as DuckieTV.
Can you get Dtv to pass torrents to this local client?

Possibly. As long as that local client is set up as the OS default magnet/.torrent client, then it should be possible for Dtv to submit magnets and .torrents to the OS and let the OS initiate the default client to handle the request.

However, the caveat is that Dtv will not be able to track the progress of the torrent download, and will just set the episode as downloaded the moment the magnet/.torrent is passed to the OS.

Pre requisites:

DuckieTV Nightly. Get the latest version at the official download site here

Once you have installed your local BitTorrent client and made it the default program for magnets and .torrents in your OS settings

Then

Start up DuckieTV and

configure DuckieTV for use without any Client Integration (None).

  • Start up DuckieTV and click on the Settings Icon

  • And then click on the Torrent button

  • Now click on the None button

  • Now scroll down to the Torrent Parameters and click on the Click to Enable button

  • You are done!

Problems?

  • So it's not working. That's too bad. Dtv submits the magnet or .torrent to your OS. Any problems are outside of Dtv's control. :-b
