GitHub Teams

In order to be able to use GitHub effectively, team members must get the following access

  1. Added to the Hack for LA GitHub org (happens only during onboarding)
  2. Added to your team, see the product wiki page creating an onboard and offboard issue if your team does not already have an issue with all the steps necessary
  3. (if they are a team lead) upgrade to maintainer access so that they can add other people to the team

Maintainers

Every project at Hack for LA should have a Product Manager that has been given Maintainer status on both Read and Write teams for the project's repository. If you are a PM and don't have this access, let us know by writing to us in the #admin Slack channel with the name of your team and your role.

Maintainer access allows the user to add other people to the team, as long as they are already in GitHub (which only happens during onboarding).

In this image from the Lucky Parking write team you can see which people have maintainer access by the Maintainer icon
