The following content will be broken out into separate pages as needed
- Optionally start by looking at the issue tracker at https://github.com/microbiomedata/DataHarmonizer/issues
- Download the example valid data file
- some operating systems may add a
.txt
or.html
extension to the downloaded file. Change that back to.tsv
if necessary. - users familiar with GitHub can find additional example data files can be found at https://github.com/microbiomedata/DataHarmonizer/tree/master/template/soil_emsl_jgi_mg/exampleInput

- Visit https://data.dev.microbiomedata.org/submission/samples and login with your ORCiD if necessary
- Use the
Select spreadsheet file
box in the upper left to load one of the example data files discussed above - It's possible that there may be a mismatch between the columns expected by DataHarmonizer and the columns present in your data file.
- The second row in your imported file does not match the template column specification. Mismatched column(s) are shown in orange.
- This is not entirely unexpected and clicking
Ok
once or twice should take you to the DataHarmonizer interface, populated with your data.
- Explore the interface, especially using the
Jump to column
box and theColumn visibility
andShow section tools
, accessed from the eyeball icon. - Enter, delete or modify any cell and click the
VALIDATE
button in the upper right. See the color legend at the bottom of the page. - Click on the column headers to better understand why some cells did not validate. The layout is a little compact at this point. Currently, there are no error messages like "over-limit pH value of 39.7"
- Once the sheet validates with no errors, click on the
GO TO NEXT STEP
button in the lower right. - Save your valid data file by clicking on THE
DOWNLOAD SAMPLE METADATA TSV
button. - Share your valid data file by visiting the user_submitted page and clicking
Add file
in the upper right - Add any concerns to the issue tracker at https://github.com/microbiomedata/DataHarmonizer/issues
