Welcome to the NMDC DataHarmonizer wiki!

The following content will be broken out into separate pages as needed

How to help test the hosted DH web interface

  • Optionally start by looking at the issue tracker at https://github.com/microbiomedata/DataHarmonizer/issues
  • Download the example valid data file
  • Visit https://data.dev.microbiomedata.org/submission/samples and login with your ORCiD if necessary
  • Use the Select spreadsheet file box in the upper left to load one of the example data files discussed above
  • It's possible that there may be a mismatch between the columns expected by DataHarmonizer and the columns present in your data file.
    • The second row in your imported file does not match the template column specification. Mismatched column(s) are shown in orange.
    • This is not entirely unexpected and clicking Ok once or twice should take you to the DataHarmonizer interface, populated with your data.
  • Explore the interface, especially using the Jump to column box and the Column visibility and Show section tools, accessed from the eyeball icon.
  • Enter, delete or modify any cell and click the VALIDATE button in the upper right. See the color legend at the bottom of the page.
  • Click on the column headers to better understand why some cells did not validate. The layout is a little compact at this point. Currently, there are no error messages like "over-limit pH value of 39.7"
  • Once the sheet validates with no errors, click on the GO TO NEXT STEP button in the lower right.
  • Save your valid data file by clicking on THE DOWNLOAD SAMPLE METADATA TSV button.
  • Share your valid data file by visiting the user_submitted page and clicking Add file in the upper right
  • Add any concerns to the issue tracker at https://github.com/microbiomedata/DataHarmonizer/issues
